Exit Survey / Feedback Form

Sol Family · Burning Man 2026

Let’s begin

Please help us out by taking a few minutes to fill out this exit survey. It really, really helps camp get better. ❤️ It’s impossible for leadership to see the camp experience from every angle and all of us involved in building and leading camp have our blind spots. So we need YOU to help us see camp from all different angles and know where to focus our energy next year.

Note: Only the first few questions are required, the rest are optional — please answer as many as you want to / have time for. The more the better and we appreciate you taking the time! ❤️

Also! Know that some areas of camp 2026 are already top on our radar...

so we haven’t asked much about them in the form. Feel free to mention it, but know that it’s already top of mind. 🙂

Family Dinners

There were several breakdowns in the meal planning and execution this year; in spite of this, as a camp ya’ll still pulled it all off beautifully. New leadership will be in charge of this area in 2027 and most likely a return to our more tried-and-true team system (although innovation is always welcome). If this is an area you’re passionate about, please reach out to Sprite!

Container Deck

The return of Big Deck and the container deck(s) for sunset howls, morning yoga, and neighborhood people watching.

Camper Placement, Arrivals, and Camp Square Footage

We didn’t meet all our ambitions when it came to pre-placing tents and arrivals parking (and had some pretty good reasons for why other last minute emergencies got prioritized), but don’t worry — it was definitely better next year! 😉

Also, people continue to bring bigger and bigger tents to the burn. Tenting at the burn is a great choice IMO, and we’ll continue our quest to make things better and better for tenters. Just remember:
More shade area = more work to build/strike.
More overall camp square footage = more land responsible to MOOP and LNT.

Neighbors

‘Nuff said here. Placement will be super aware of our preference for our noisy neighbor to be placed at another festival entirely.

Sol Family Camper

Start typing and select your name from the dropdown list.

We don’t have an address on file for you — please add one so we can follow up if we need to.

Your year at camp

Was this your first year camping with Sol Family / HEX Collective?*

What worked

What could be better

(Feel free to talk about the big problems even if you don’t know how to solve them; also don’t hold back on listing some obvious “easy wins” and low hanging fruit.)

To what degree did this negative thing affect your overall experience?

1 — barely affected it5 — affected it a lot
Are you interested in working on this area directly to improve it, leading or being part of this team?

Who Shined

Were there any leads or fellow campmates that totally frickin' rocked it? Anyone who totally CRUSHED their shift? Is there anyone you noticed who was always helping out at camp and/or helping their fellow campmates? Did you notice anyone who maybe flies under the radar a bit but deserves to be known is a total rockstar?

Please share who shined out there and any helpful details. ❤️

Camper / Community Issues

Most inter-personal issues are best handled directly camper to camper. HOWEVER, that being said, please do let us know anything you believe leadership should be aware of for overall camp and community well-being. This can be issues of:

  • Safety | Recklessness
  • Consent | Creepiness | Uncomfortable/Unwanted Interactions
  • Aggression | Attitude | Non-collaboration
  • Abuse of camp resources or property
  • Law enforcement issues
  • Leave-no-trace / moop / strike issues
Did you experience or witness any safety, consent or other community issues such as the ones listed above?

If you're reporting a serious camper issue, please put as many details as you can so we can follow up appropriately. All issues will be handled with sensitivity, care, discernment and discretion.

Camp Offerings

Were you happy and proud to share them? Was there too much or not enough of something? Was 2 day parties enough and were they the right length? Do you have any ideas for improvements or changes to our camp offerings?

Coffee Offering Potential Replacement

Do you have an idea for another popular offering? Or would you be interested in taking charge and leading a coffee offering yourself? It could be:

  • Something similar — barista espresso
  • Something different — brewed coffee with an extravagant toppings bar, or a pour-over coffee bar
  • Or an idea for a completely different offering instead

Camper Shifts

How did you feel about our camp Offerings Schedule and amount/length of camper shifts?

Was it the right amount of Offerings hours or too much? Were the starting shifts too early? Did it feel like the right amount of people were scheduled for each shift and role? What could be improved? Was there not enough or too many people on your meal crew?

Camp Placement

Aside from our unusual noisy neighbor issues, did you like our camp placement? Would you prefer a different placement?

Camp Showers

Camp Showers

Please rate our camp showers and whether you’d like to keep them as-is or invest camp funds toward a booth setup and/or hot running water. If you have experience with other camps, please compare our showers to other camps and tell us whether they are better or worse and why.

Camp Portos

Camp Portos

Every year, we ask our campers to vote if we’re still happy using neighborhood portos or if the community wants to invest funds toward private camp portos. Some of the downsides to having portos in camp include: The smell: No one wants to be placed near them in camp but some people would inevitably have to be placed near them. The shifts: No one wants the bathroom cleaning shifts, but they would have to become a part of camp life. Given those considerations, please vote on whether you’d like camp to explore having in-camp portos.

Camp WishList

If we were to allocate energy and funds to improving 1-4 specific areas of camp next year, please rate which would be most important to you and where you’d most like for camp to invest in:

Tap in order of importance — your first tap is #1. Tap again to remove and the rest renumber.

Camp Organization & Communication

How did you feel about camp organization and communication before and during Burning Man?

Camp Dues

Camp Dues

We do our best to keep camp dues as low as possible while also having the amenities and offerings we all vote for. Generally, we have heard our camp dues are lower than other camps with similar amenities, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a hardship for some of us in the community. We aim to keep our camp accessible as possible to everyone in our beloved diverse international community. If you feel comfortable, please share your experience with the camp dues:

Rentals Experience

Rentals Experience (For those that participated)

This is a new program and we’re still working out the kinks and long-term viability. If you took part in it, please share your thoughts:

Should we continue the Rentals Program?

Looking ahead to 2027

Do you plan to attend Burning Man 2027?*
If you do attend Burning Man in 2027, are you planning to camp with Sol Family if we bring camp back for 2027?*
Are you interested in working on off-season fundraising for Sol Family and its initiatives?
If you were a camp lead or part of any team, would you like to do that again in 2027 or the future?

Would you like to dial up or dial down your contribution, or keep the same?

Lastly, if we do camp in 2027, would you like to be part of camp planning and leadership in some way?

If you feel like we have something special going on here and you’d like to be a part of it next year or ongoing. Camp is a completely volunteer community effort, and naturally we all have jobs and commitments and passions and travels outside of the burn. I’m committed to only doing camp if it’s sustainable energetically, emotionally and financially for its leadership. After all, if we’re not having fun, then what’s the point. 😌

There’s many different ways to be a camp leader… you can be a spreadsheet warrior during spring/summer who likes to keep their own free time at the burn… or you can be mostly checked-out throughout the year-round planning but fully committed to showing up on-playa for build and strike.. or you can be a bit of both, or something else.. you can lead one specific area and nothing else… Burning Man is special because it takes ALL the different types of us to pull it off.. the artists, the spreadsheet nerds, the on-playa tactical commanders, the reliable genius fixers, the muscle, the nourishers and caretakers, the zoomed-out visionary planners and the zoomed-in OCD detailers… Anyway ☺ If you want to see this thing live on and if you’d like to play a role of some kind in 2027, feel free to share some details on that below. ❤️🔥

Would you be interested in attending a potential recompression gathering / planning / leadership adventure in March/April 2027?

This could potentially happen in Reno, Tahoe, Montana, NYC, Mexico, Miami or other fun places!

Success! We got it. ✅

Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your thoughts to make camp better. ❤️
