Sol Family is committed to making meaningful participation accessible while recognizing the significant time, energy, and labor contributed by our Core Build & Strike team.

As part of Sol Family's mission to create pathways for individuals from underrepresented and economically disadvantaged communities to gain hands-on experience in off-grid infrastructure, construction, and collaborative community building, a limited number of subsidies are available each year to help reduce financial barriers for participants making significant contributions to camp creation and operations.

As Sol Family begins operating under our new 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are implementing a formal application process for all subsidies. While this adds a bit of paperwork, it helps us steward donated funds responsibly, ensure fairness, and keep our subsidy program aligned with our charitable mission.

Subsidies are intended to support participants who are making substantial contributions during build week and strike, while expanding access to the hands-on learning experiences that are central to Sol Family. Through participation in camp build, public art, operations, and strike, community members gain practical skills in off-grid infrastructure, construction, collaborative community building, and large-scale event production. Priority is given to participants who may otherwise face financial barriers to participating in these critical roles and educational opportunities.

Because funds are limited, subsidies are not guaranteed. Applications will be reviewed confidentially by camp leadership based on overall camp contribution, financial need, reliability, and our ability to support requests.

Camp Dues and Rental Amenities are one of the primary ways we can support our core Build / Strike crew. You support camp and camp supports you back by providing partial or completely subsidized camp dues (and a tent + A/C + air mattress if helpful).
