BURN WEEK SHIFTS

Sol Family β€” Shift Sign-Ups 2026

πŸ”₯ Sol Family β€” Shift Sign-Ups 2026

Burn Week Β· Black Rock City

⚠️ Meal Crew Shifts are "sold out"! Please go ahead and select an additional Offerings or Monitor shift instead!
✦ Everyone in camp has committed to a minimum of 2 Burn Week Shifts ✦
1Meal Crew Shift β€” Family Dinners (2.5 hours/shift)
1Offerings Shift β€” Rise & Shine Lounge (2.5 hrs) / Afternoon Day Parties (3 hrs)

Note: We also have Monitor shifts available this year with not a specific shift timeslot but insteand an overall responsibility for one area for one day (or several days if on Ice detail). These DO count as a Burn week shift.

Burn week shifts are separate from any efforts during Build Week or pre-playa yearround teamwork and planning. Working together to share our offerings with the playa or create our Family Dinners is one of the most important aspects of camp and a large part of what makes us a placed camp at all. And by the way, our shifts are designed to be short and fun! Many campers, especially those missing build or pre-playa teamwork, choose to sign up for more burn week shifts in order to integrate better into camp and be involved. We love and encourage that!

"Everyone Strikes" Policy

During our interviews, everyone has been informed of camp's Everyone Strikes Policy:

  • If you are leaving camp before 1pm on Monday afternoon, you must work at least 1 additional burn week shift.
  • If you are leaving camp before 2pm on Sunday afternoon, you must work at least 2 additional burn week shifts.
  • Additional Strike Contribution β€” Everyone missing Strike pushes 1 and/or 2 will also be asked to contribute to Strike another way (such as taking camp trash out with you when you leave early, performing extra camp-wide MOOP sweeps throughout the week, cleaning out fridges and coolers as they empty during the week, etc.)

This is a policy important to camp fairness and if you fail to fulfill your extra shifts / strike responsibilities before you leave, you may receive a red mark on your camp standing and not be invited back to camp. Most campers would trade Strike hours for fun burn week shift hours anytime, but Strike is the most important part of camp, and it's important you contribute to Strike via some contribution and extra burn week shifts if you are leaving camp early.

🍽 Meal Crew

Meal crews come together to share in creating Family Dinners during burn week β€” an important and beloved part of camp. Family Dinners are by campers, for campers. This year our Family Dinners leads (Naz & Oded) have pre-planned our menu and recipes lists.

The Meal Crew Lead is responsible for making sure the meal is a success and delegating responsibilities to other teammates. Your meal's Recipe and calculated ingredient list is taken care of by our Family Dinners leads (Naz, Oded) and overseen by Camp Lead Roni.

Teammate responsibilities include: shopping and bringing ingredients to playa, meal prepping/cooking, hosting the serving table, and kitchen clean-up after meal. All teammates should join the dedicated Slack channel for their meal crew.

πŸ“ All teammates gather at the kitchen at 6pm unless otherwise instructed. Meal Crew Leads will take shift attendance, delegate responsibilities, and overall ensure the success of the meal.

πŸ•“ Temple Sunday: teammates gather at the kitchen at 4:30pm.
πŸŒ… Dinners are served just after sunset (~8:00pm), except Temple Sunday Dinner which is at 6:30pm.

β˜€οΈ Offerings Shifts

Rise & Shine Lounge and Afternoon Day Parties. Enjoy these live DJ'd spaces where people come from all over the playa to enjoy our coffee, libations, music, misters vibey full-shade tent and awesome vibes.

These are super fun shifts! Feel free to linger and hang out / bring the vibes to our lounge spaces beyond your shift time. Enjoy libations and coffee for yourself when line-ups are chill.

πŸ”¨ Build Week & Strike Playa Admin Roles

During build week, it's all hands on deck all the time β€” you'll be busy with shade, decor, assembly, and everything else. That said, we also need people in specific roles at specific times. These are great for those who want to contribute but aren't necessarily strong physical builders.

⚠️ These shifts do not count toward your Burn Week shift total. Everyone must still complete at least 2 Burn Week shifts.
